NHS treatment in paid for by your local primary care trust (PCT), and is linked to the area where you are registered with a GP.
It is normal practice if you have been having problems to be treated by another clinician to resolve issues, however if this is not sucessful you can go out of area for your treatment. This used to be a paper exercise but now is an agreement between your local PCT and the treatment centre where funding changes hands. This is the first line most PCT’s would prefer to see, however many of the out of area treatments actually cost more than the complete service we offer.
The PCT’s do not like to pay for private treatment no matter what the costs are. The PCT’s usually have an exceptional cases panel, so with your GP’s support and a consultation report, it can be possible to present a case for funding to attend Limb Solutions for treatment.
Unfortunately this means every episode of care has to be approved prior to treatment,.
